Larressingle in the heart of the Gers
One of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France”
Close to Condom and Eauze, our hotel and restaurant in Larressingle is ideally located to walk around one of the most beautiful and smallest fortified villages in France. The locals refer to it affectionately as a "miniature Carcassonne"... Surrounded by verdant fields and vineyards, the village of Larressingle is the pride of the Gers. Make the most of your visit to dive into the history of the Gascony region.
Located on the GR65 hiking trail of Saint Jacques de Compostelle (aka St James’ Way or the Camino de Santiago), there are numerous hikes from the village offering great views over the citadel.
The smallest fortified village in France
The 13th century village, surrounded by ramparts with a keep, a church and medieval houses adjoining the walls in the middle, belonged the the bishops of Condom. Visitors can enter over a bridge and through the fortified gates. Stop to admire the details of a mullioned window or a studded door. Before leaving, take a moment to salute the bust of the last Duke of Trévise who saved Larressingle from ruin at the beginning of the 20th century by pleading for help from wealthy Bostonians.
